The COSMOS PDF AWARD IS A DIGITAL PRIZE. ITS PRIMARY GOAL IS TO SUPPORT PHOTOGRAPHERS IN THE PRODUCTION AND SHOWCASING OF INNOVATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY AND DIGITAL PUBLISHING PROJECTS. SUBMISSIONS SHOULD BE UNPUBLISHED WORK AIMED AT REDEFINING THE PHOTOGRAPHIC MEDIUM, AND MUST BE PROVIDED AS PDF DIGITAL PORTFOLIOS. ENTRY IS FREE, AS IS THE PDF PLATFORM.

SUBMISSIONS SHOULD HIGHLIGHT THE FORMAT AS A UNIQUE MEANS OF VISUAL EXPRESSION. ALTHOUGH THERE IS NO LIMIT ON THE NUMBER OF PAGES PER SUBMISSION, PDF FILES MUST BE NO LARGER THAN 10 MB. SUBMISSIONS WILL BE ASSESSED BY TEN PERSONALITIES FROM THE FIELDS OF PHOTOGRAPHY AND PUBLISHING. THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS IS 10 JUNE 2017.
A SHORTLIST OF TEN FINALISTS WILL BE ANNOUNCED IN MID-JUNE. THE WINNER WILL BE ANNOUNCED AT THE END OF JUNE. ALL SHORTLISTED PDF ENTRIES WILL BE PUBLISHED ON THE COSMOS PDF AWARD WEBSITE.
THE WINNING PROJECT WILL BE DEVELOPED BY A PROFESSIONAL STUDIO AS AN EXHIBITION MODULE, AND WILL BE DISPLAYED BY COSMOS-ARLES BOOKS DURING THE PRESTIGIOUS FESTIVAL, LES RENCONTRES DE LA PHOTOGRAPHIE — ARLES 2017. THE WINNER WILL BE PRESENTED WITH THE PRINTS AT THE END OF THE FESTIVAL. THE WINNING DISPLAY WILL ALSO BE EXHIBITED AT JAIPURPHOTO 2O18.

PDF (PORTABLE DOCUMENT FORMAT) IS THE SIMPLEST AND MOST READILY AVAILABLE FILE FORMAT FOR THE TRANSMISSION AND PROMOTION OF ARTISTIC PROJECTS. THE COSMOS PDF PRIZE WAS FOUNDED IN 2015 BY THE NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION GALERIE 2600, WITH THE TECHNICAL SUPPORT OFATELIER SHL.
IN 2017, IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE CANADIAN PHOTOGRAPHY INSTITUTE, THE PRIZE HAS TAKEN A NEW FORM, INCLUDING A NEW PLATFORM AND A NEW SUBMISSION INTERFACE.

TheCOSMOS PDF AWARD IS A DIGITAL PRIZE, DESIGNED TO SUPPORT PHOTOGRAPHERS IN THE PRODUCTION AND SHOWCASING OF INNOVATIVE PROJECTS IN THE FIELDS OF PHOTOGRAPHY AND DIGITAL PUBLISHING.
BY SUBMITTING THEIR PROJECT, CANDIDATES AGREE TO HAVE THEIR PDF PROJECT PUBLISHED ON THE COSMOS PDF AWARD SITE, AS WELL AS ON ANY OTHER RELATED PLATFORMS DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE AWARD. THE AWARD’S ADMINISTRATORS AGREE TO CREDIT ALL PUBLISHED WORKS WITH THE NAMES OF THEIR PHOTOGRAPHERS.
WHEN SUBMITTING A PROJECT, ENTRANTS CERTIFY THAT THEY ARE SUBMITTING THEIR OWN WORK. IF AN ENTRY INCLUDES PHOTOGRAPHS BY OTHER ARTISTS, THEIR SOURCE MUST BE INDICATED AND/OR CREDIT GIVEN TO THE ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPHER(S).
UPON ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE WINNING PROJECT, THE WINNER WILL BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE HD COPIES OF HIS/HER WORK, AND WILL BE EXPECTED TO TAKE PART IN ANY RELATED PRESENTATIONS OF THE PROJECT.
